Cafe Picasso: Where the Surrealists float

A dimension where subjectivity is not plagued by the barbaric evil known as rationality- a dimension where disjoint images are allowed to be disjoint and float like shards of glass on oil

Unlineations I

I now know the thrill that musicians feel upon practising their instrument. I practised my riz (Egyptian tambourine) today. I'm sure it's overly cliched, but I felt the need to mention..it's interesting how we set out to do something else and end up doing something completely different. For example, tonight I was going to study French and read Hugo's Les Orientals ..I was supposed to go to an opera called Les Dialogues des Carmelites as well. As it turned out, I wasn't able to get tickets for the opera, and I did get hold of my books, but ended up practising the tambourine and dancing instead. So here I am, at 6 in the morning, trying to finish the Hugo reading. Interesting side note: An alarm clock, in French, is called 'reveille-matin', meaning 'waking up in the morning'...mine fails to wake me up...I disregard it completely..in any case, it is usually the afternoon when it is tuned to beep.

I had to visit google images to see what a riz looks like. Must be fun playing it but an odd hour 6 am? you are either insomniac or quite an early bird :) And oh, I love the afternoon snoozing, would hate an alarm buzzing at that time, unless you meant you usually sleep late until noon, in which case Id say you are blessed to have such pleasures :P

Hate those 'reveille-matin's. I dun think there's anything more useful, yet reviled at the same time. Damn, I hate 'em.

When Mom was screaming in the past there were at least different tones I could make fun of.

Btw, how come you've not heard from your neighbors yet?

:-)

You know I face the same problem. My 'reveille-matin' sounds like a very beautiful echo on a cellphone. Il ne me reveille pas jamais!

Got that right? :)
